This is Najah Shakir, Program Manager at Boston Bikes, the City of Boston’s bike department. During the warmer months, you will usually find her riding Hubway to work and around the city, but until the system gets running year round — an idea Cycle Style Boston fully endorses — she rides her Globe Daily 3-speed in the off-season. We caught up with Najah recently for a little Q&A about her work and biking in Boston. Read the rest of this entry »

Kathryn Carlson, fluent Polish speaker, sudoku addict, and proud Wisconsinite, is the mastermind behind Buca Boot. Basically, it’s like a mini car trunk for your bike that locks. I was excited to learn about it, because I can’t count how many times I’ve wished something like this existed. With the help of a Kickstarter campaign, she hopes to bring it to the masses early next year.   Read the rest of this entry »

In honor of last night’s Boston Bike Party – July Edition, this is Boston Bike Party organizer Elodie Garcia. After living in Washington, DC and knowing a good thing when she saw it, she decided to bring Bike Party to Boston.

Elodie originally hails from France, but feels right at home in Boston. She says the architecture and city planning remind her of being in a European city. She rides a signature pink Schwinn cruiser she bought on Craigslist. You can read more about Boston Bike Party and Elodie in this article in the Metro.

Ride on, Elodie!

Kevin Foster works as a Survey Methodologist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. His daily commute takes him from his home near Coolidge Corner in Brookline to the Federal Reserve building at Dewey Square. He cycles every day of the year there isn’t ice on the ground. Rather than the direct route through Kenmore Square, he chooses a longer but more relaxing route route through Brookline to near the BU Bridge, where he gets on the Charles River Esplanade bike path towards downtown.
